Tech Tuesday: Floating Metropolis

Global Warming, some say its real, some say it's not scientifically supported, either way, gotta have a back-up. If things were to get pretty bad and say a few continents were submerged under water EF would be goodmoney! We introduce the Lilypad, the Floating Metropolis. Belgian designer Vincent Callebaut, the Lilypad's creator, describes the city as a "floating ecopolis for climate refugees," . Inspired by nature, it's designed to house 50,000 people displaced from the effects of population control or other ecological disasters, and be entirely self-sufficient so it doesn't contribute to the problem. As a floating city, it can really pick and choose how it gets its energy since wind, solar and hydropower are all easily accessible, and all food and water can be grown or processed. Can anyone say Waterworld! This would be OD similar to the movie, this can't possibly in our future?

It's just about the most fashionable way to weather any ecological nightmare. While the Lilypad may never see the light of day, a conceptualized version of a zero-emission city is certainly a step in the right direction.
