United Arab Emirates Building Network Of Driverless Electric Taxis

The days of artificial intelligence are closer than we may think. United Arab Emirates are ahead of the standard world with their gasoline-free Masdar City. Our planet will now witness the PRT (personal rapid transit) system, driverless electric taxis that take to the streets later this year.

When the system's fully built, planners say the podcars will be able to deliver riders within 100 meters of any location in the city. The whole network of tracks for the cars will be two stories beneath street level. Cheaper than walking/biking? Its creators say the system will pay for itself by charging riders the same price they'd pay for an equivalent taxi ride. Looks a lot like the movies doesn't it?

Apple has just released the newest update to their MacBook Pro series of notebook computers, the newest MacBook Pro will come in a 17″ size and feature the longest battery to be offered by Apple, the battery will last over eight hours on a single charge and can be recharged upwards of 1,000 times. Free Loader Solar Inertial Dampener - Tech Tuesday

Going "green" is now cooler than ever. The UK company Solar Technology takes another step in that direction with the introduction of the Freeloader solar inertial dampener.

Lightweight and around the same size as your average MP3 player, the Free Loader unfurls into a fully working solar cellular charger with the ability to charge an iPod for 18 hours, a cell phone for 44 hours, and a Sony PSP for 2.5 hours, as well as servicing most other portable gadgets like Crackberrys. Toyota Prius Solar Shell Technology

Toyota is reportedly still working on that Prius with solar panels (pictured below) to partially power its air conditioning, but now a confidential file from Toyota has leaked that trumps that by a mile. Apparently, the company's goal is to create a car that's totally solar powered. However, according to Japanese newspaper The Nikkei, Toyota's all-solar car will take years to get to market.The report also hinted at the way the partially-solar Toyota would work, where solar panels on the car's roof would supplement electric power drawn from solar panels on a house's roof as the car charges in the garage, adding up to a mostly-solar-powered vehicle. Should have started using this technology back in the early 90's when I first discovered solar powered vehicles.

Because we keep our home theater PC (HTPC) just outside the room to keep noise and heat down, this looks like an appropriate input device for our dimly-lit video cave.

Tech Tuesday: Incase iPhone Booster

One of the biggest problem with the iPhone is the battery life. Incase has figured out a solution to this problem. New Macbook Fall 2008

Apple announced yesterday their all new MacBook line-up, which makes me feel outdated. I just bought this damn thing last February!!! Anyway the entire MacBook series was updated in terms of design and also in terms of technology. The most interesting updates include the updated graphic cards and the LED display. The new MacBook comes in 13″ and 15"″.Not so sure about this black fram arond the screen, seems kind of mainstream. At least the price of the MacBook series went down, wait what! I got GOT! Tech Tuesday: Insert iPhone Here

Even though I only fux wit the Crackberry...the iPhone, when you think about it, is really more of a hand held computer than a phone. What makes the iPhone unique is its web-surfing abilities and tons of add-on applications.

A company called OLO Computer is working on a small laptop that will cradle your iPhone and allow you to use it with a large screen and full keyboard. You'll simply pop the iPhone into a space where the trackpad usually sits, turning the iPhone into a trackpad! You'll then be able to type out emails or text messages using the keyboard, sending them through your phone. It's a clever idea, one that may or may not catch hold depending on how much it costs. Recessions seriously suck...we'll see how this one turns out.

By now, most likely everyone has seen those little SmartCars on the road. You know the super tiny ultra gas efficient cars that seem to be all the new rage in major cities all over the world. Gas prices are just too OD, people have to start riding in smaller vehicles. As usual, Japan has one upped the competition. We present the Honda Puyo, it just seems like more and more cars are looking like they came straight out of a Dragon Ball Z show!
