This week in nerd-ville, Captain Piccard and his crew discovered a new series of planets in our star system the Delta Quadrant. Thanks to the evocatively named High-Accuracy Radial-Velocity Planet Searcher (HARPS), a telescope mounted atop La Scilla Mountain in Chile, his team were able to detect a litter of new planets, some as small as four times the mass of Earth — tiny by exoplanet standards. This ground breaking discovery could signal the existence of sustainable life on non-Earth planets...remarkable, simply remarkable.
