Canada Is Cooler

Mark Emory is the man...the man who will be Locked Up for a five year bid! He got knocked for selling herb seeds online, and then investigated by United States dt's. His business, for what it was, was rather professional. He had a full office, employees, and even 24-hour support service. He was charged with intent. After some talk with the lawyers Mr. Emory has agreed to a plea bargain to keep his partners and friends out of jail. He will serve 5 years in prison for distributing millions of cannabis seeds. Check out the story below:

Louis V Party In Japan...The Finer Side Of Life

Big time design brands like LV always have dope release parties. It's either a collection release, or LV throwing Pharrell a model party. Shopping and champaigne, that's how they do. Check out these photos from a recent LV get together.

Internet Sabotage!

Hi-tech Dubai has been hit hard by an Internet outage apparently caused by a cut undersea cable.

Large swathes of Asia, the Middle East and north Africa had their high-technology services crippled Thursday following a widespread Internet failure which brought many businesses to a standstill and left others struggling to cope.

One major telecommunications provider blamed the outage, which started Wednesday, on a major undersea cable failure in the Mediterranean. India's Internet bandwidth has been sliced in half, The Associated Press reported, leaving its lucrative outsourcing industry trying to reroute traffic to satellites and other cables through Asia.

This is a major issue! There are literally thousands of companies that outsource to these countries. In Dubai the outage led to a rapid collapse of a wide range of public services in a country which proudly promotes itself as technological pioneer. There are warnings that if the outage continues, "such a situation could create problems between brokers, companies, and investors due to loss of control."

Imagine if there was such an outage in the US...

Fashion Sense: That's Tight

With retailers swimming through resort wear season and anxious for spring, the beginning of spring fashion is arriving daily at retailers everywhere. Bright colors, including brilliant blues, neon and day-glow promise to make this spring vibrant. But with the weather still cold and occasionally gloomy, what is a girl to do?

A good solution is a combination of tights and socks. White or bright colored tights underneath a winter color palate are a fun way to brighten up a dreary day. Pairing thick textured or woolen tights with a lighter dress is a great way to wear your spring dresses before the weather allows. If tights aren’t your thing, then socks are your next best bet. I love knee-high or over-the-knee socks, but have also wanted to try above-the-ankle socks. A slightly preppy look, it can be pulled off with a killer outfit and peep-toe or closed-toe pumps. Nothing too strappy (it would be off balance) or flat (really too prep school); you risk ruining the look.

Welovecolors.com is a great website to find tights and socks. They boast tights, socks, and more in a multitude of fun colors and patterns.

This clip features Nash Money, largely knows as one of the greatest custom shoe creators in the world. Here he takes us through the innovation and inspiration behind each custom shoe. An added bonus includes footage of him putting together the Nike Dunk Hi bike seat which is crack. This guy really nows his stuff. Customizing shoes is not just about drawing designs on blank shoe canvas. It's about creating an entire new looking shoe that fits your swagger.

Taka Hayashi Vans This Fall

Vans works together on a project with Taka Hayashi. A self taught painter / illustrator / graphic designer, Taka was born in Yokohama, Japan in 1971. He moved to the U.S. in 1981 and relocated himself in Santa Monica where the early 80’s Skateboarding scene had a huge impact on his life & art. Here, he designed three sneakers, a No Skool 2 Mid Vulc, an Owens Hi Vulc, and a Rowley ‘Shambles’ Mid. There will also be matching tees. These are set to release this fall 08. This model is a great skate shoe, amazing comfort and traction.

Can't Stop, Won't Stop

Senator Obama with Senator Claire McCaskill, left, of Missouri, and Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas on Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Obama received the endorsement of both women.
Three days after winning the South Carolina primary, forging a coalition of black and white voters, Mr. Obama selected this old oil town where his maternal grandfather was reared to open a weeklong tour of states holding primaries and caucuses Feb. 5. Mr. Obama conceded that he faces the urgent challenge of introducing himself to those who have paid only passing notice to the presidential race.

Yet Mr. Obama was not exactly coming home. He was raised in Hawaii, with pieces of his ancestry stretched around the globe, and he had never visited El Dorado before Tuesday. But without a childhood home in Kansas to establish his biography, Mr. Obama came here to link himself with a piece of faraway history in a state that just happens to be holding caucuses on the next stop of the Democratic nominating fight.

He collected an endorsement from Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who praised his “Midwestern values.” “He got them from his grandparents and his mother,” Ms. Sebelius added.

Bob Marley Robbed from JBC!

It seems a whole set of Bob Marley archives have gone missing. Someone applied their 5 finger discount and magatchied the whole lot.

As billboard reports…

"A massive collection of 1970s music, including original recordings by reggae greats Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, has disappeared from the archives of the former Jamaica Broadcasting Corp."

"The possible theft of thousands of
vinyl records and compact discs is a blow to the island’s history", said Olivia Grange, Jamaica’s information minister.

“The latest development is a national disgrace,” said Gladstone Wilson, former program manager for JBC (Jamaica Broadcast Company) radio.

This was definately a blow to the Marley family.

Another Cut At The Jugular

The Federal Reserve reduced short-term interest rates on Wednesday for the second time in eight days, meeting widespread expectations by investors on Wall Street for a big rate cut.

In lowering its benchmark Federal funds rate by half a point, to 3 percent, the central bank acknowledged that it is now far more worried about an economic slowdown than rising inflation. Now when Fed economists say "economic slow down" what they really mean is RECESSION!

The fiscal package (stimulus package) and the Fed’s own rate reductions would amount to a one-two punch aimed at jolting the economy enough to keep it out of a recession, or at least mitigate the effects of any downturn that might develop.

Investors are now looking to the national employment report on Friday for a clearer view of the economic outlook. Economists expect the Labor Department to report a gain of 63,000 jobs for January after a weak gain of 18,000 jobs in December. A less cheerful report could convince investors that a recession has already begun

Stack, Stack, STACK people!

Stamp!

USPS will release a series of stamps inspired by the creations of Eames. You may have also noticed a strong trend, not only in streetwear but in fashion towards superheroes and cartoons as of late. USPS follows suit and have released 2 series of Stamps, one inspired by the comic book covers of Marvel Comics, Captain America, Elektra, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Sub-Mariner, The Incredible Hulk, The Thing and Wolverine amongst others, and the other inspired by epic Star Wars scenes and characters. Of course the Marvel stamps are tigher than the Star Wars collection. I suspect these will some day be collectors items.

Married To The Mob

Just got news from the Married To The Mob camp. Until now MTTM mostly made t-shirts and hoodies. The brand now presents their first denim, something many have been waiting for. On the back pockets the denim features the print "MTTM". No word on the release, but we suspect that it comes with their Spring 2008 collection. Definately a good look ladies, a real nice denim cut, and a fresh alternative other denim brands. Pic via Mobliving.

Don't Sleep...Dame Is Still In The Game

N4E1(Not For Everyone) will be releasing their spring line in conjunction with TIRET New York, former Roc-A-Fella Records CEO Damon Dash’s luxury diamond time piece company. The goal was to project the lifestyle fusion between luxury and style, incorporating over $2 million dollars worth of TIRET timepieces.

N4E1 will be at Magic this February, doing a private showcase at the new Palazzo Hotel (In between Venetian and the Wynn) so if you guys are there, please drop and grab me a watch.

Till You're All Black and Blue

Our friends at Sneaker Freaker cised us! Black & Blue is a good look.

2008 will see the release of the Nike Air Revolution Hi. The hi-top sneaker comes with lots of nice details, including the ankle strap and perforated toecap and patent leather detailing. Also the colorway is simple, but still stands out. Pic via Sneaker Freaker.

The Australian store "Provider" teamed up with New Balance to work on the 1500 model. The outcome is a nice black/charcoal/blue colorway, with the entire upper coming in premium suede. The sneaker will be released in March and will also come with matching wayfarer sunglasses. Glasses matching this shoe are going to be sick, stay posted for more news. Image via Sneaker Freaker.

Brooklyn's Shadows

Serbian photographer Boogie grew up in the war-torn region of former Yugoslavia, documenting protests and the disturbing portraits of skinheads. After moving from Belgrade to Brooklyn in 1998, he started observing New York’s bleak street side of life with monochrome shots. Distinctively, his work isn’t emphatic. He doesn’t judge. He is more reporting on a not so distant universe with a fine eye for detail - and a lot of guts. Check out his photo's, an amzing look into Brooklyn's shadows."This whole life is a bunch of choices you make and they just made a couple of wrong ones," says photographer Boogie about his series on junkies in Brooklyn. © Boogie

His pictures are captivating to say the least. A true look at some of the people trying to survive in Brooklyn's shadows. Check out the link

New Nike SB's...Leave The Wheels At Home

Nike knows how to put enough R&D into a product that it comes out perfect. Nike drops boots inspired by the legendary Nike Air Force 1. No word yet on street dates or color ways. Rumored to be dropping in August through October: four men's models and three women's. With Nike's market appeal, chances are this snowboard collection will become very popular with snowboarders around the globe. The collection has the ability to grow, in the same manner the Nike SB collection did! . Translation: the sky is the limit for Nike Snowboarding...

A Tribe Called Nike

Here is another addition from the Nike Safari Pack. The Air Max 1 features a multicolor upper, mostly black and aqua though and the Safari pattern in several colors. It will be released around the same time as the Tech Pack Safari Premium, so end of February. This shoe's unique blend of color with the aqua and strong red, truly makes it an eye opener in the streets.Via Streething.

A Tribute To The Past: Feel The Electricity!

Tech Tuesday

At the DEMO annual gathering of tech inventions, companies roll out creations that marry your phone and computer, and make the workplace technologically easier. Take a look:

LiveScribe
LiveScribe's Smartpen stores your notes, sketches, and doodles in digital memory so they can be transferred later to your PC. It also records sound. It's not the first "smart pen" to hit the market, and given past flops, only time will tell if consumers want their writing instruments to be this high-tech and pricey.

CrackBerry PCMobilizr
Remember that time you were on a business trip and realized, too late, that you left your presentation on your desktop PC at home? The application creates a secure link back to a Windows computer over the wireless Internet connection on a Blackberry or Windows Mobile device, letting you interact with your desktop as if you were actually sitting in front of it. A version that works with Apple's Mac computers (AAPL) is slated to arrive in February. Support for other handhelds, including the iPhone, Nokia (NOK) phones, and handsets based on Google's (GOOG) Android mobile platform are also planned.

Squidcast
If your e-mail service has ever prevented you from e-mailing a video or big batch of digital pictures because of size limits on attachments, then you'll understand the need for Squidcast. The Web-based service allows you to upload any size file to be sent from its site using any browser on Windows, Mac.

Amphibian
Amphibian is an online service that lets you forward incoming cell phone calls to a Web-based phone application. The Amphibian Web site also lets you make calls and answer voice mail messages without ringing the other person's phone (this is called a "shout"). It can also answer calls to your cell phone when you have no wireless signal, store and search old voicemail messages, and do scores of other things you wish your real phone could do.
All of these will help optimize your business.

Nike SB Bass

Nike Skateboarding continues to release sneakers inspired by classic Guitars and everything around it. As part of their February 2008 releases, they made a Dunk Mid SB indpired by a Fender Bass.

242 already has them available

New Shirts From Zaz

Check out this brand from Canada. Simple graphic T's, but great color and design.

Got to put that disclaimer out there!
Spring Time is Sting Time...Be easy in the streets!
Gotta love the classic polo. Here Zaz took a look found on the Ermenegildo Zegna Sport collection

Holly Street DC...Has A Little Competition

So over the weekend in Melbourne Australia a 16 yr. old kid Named Cory Worthington threw a huge party at his parents house. Sounds kind of familiar. It is now being refered to as “The Best Party Ever”. During the party some 500 party goers spilled into the streets and allegedly caused $20,000 in damages to police vehicles and neighboring homes. Thats kind of intense, but note sure if it compares to illegal strippers, and old women getting mugged. Anyhow police had bottles thrown at them and helicopters and dog squads had to be called in to break the the whole thing up. The 16 year old boy has somewhat become an overnight celebrity and is riding the fame wave for all its worth. Here is Cory on the local news being interviewed. Dude is a straight G for this. This is why G's keep their shades on!
