Present Movie Madness: Weekend Top Five
Meet the Spartans topped the domestic box office this weekend grossing $18.7 million. Barely missing the top spot, Rambo came in a close second with $18.1 million. Two movies which were released last weekend come in 3rd and 4th place, those being 27 Dresses, and Cloverfield. Another opening weekend movie premier rounded out the top five, as Untraceable grossed just over $11 million.
Movies Soon To Come: More on Heath Ledger, The Joker, and The Dark Knight
The tragic death of movie star Heath Ledger has lead to much speculation about his death and its' connection to his role as "The Joker" in the upcoming Batman movie The Dark Knight. Could it be possible that in creating such a psychopathic had a long term effect on the actor?
We can start with the only other person to bring this character to real life on the silver screen. Jack Nicholson played The Joker vs. Michael Keaton as Batman back in the 90's. Nicholson alluded to warning Ledger of the mental dangers brought on by the role. Nicholson commented on the actors tragic death outside of a London restaurant. He simply said "I told him so". Nicholson’s portrayal of The Joker was sinister but comical. He made you laugh in just about every scene. Ledgers portrayal seems to be more of psychopathic character, who's dark complexity is truly disturbing.
Furthermore there is speculation that if the role is linked to Ledger's death, then Warner Bros. may have to pull the film. This would instantly turn The Dark Knight into a cult classic and one of the most sought after films in history. A character that evil is hard to imagine, the trailer below helps a little.
