Here's what's new for Autumn/Winter 2008 season.
Several new pieces, including the familiar train engineer stripes applied on a vest. Interior is lined with woodland and/or Stewart plaid. Other new items include a new collaboration with the folks of dpm/maharishi, with the introduction of a signature dazzle camouflage.
A bit on dazzle camo. It was utilized during World War I on naval vessels as a method to deter the threats of German U-Boats & surface vessels.
The concept behind it was a kinda OD. Instead of concealing the object, dazzle camo is set to make the object stands out from the surrounding, so much so that the rangefinders (pre-dates the usage of radar) couldn’t aim guns/torpedoes on the target. DPM Penfield Dazzle Camo collection, which includes outerwear jackets, vests, and some matching sleeping bags which attach nicely for a true in the field look. Penfield is really stepping up, the freshest jackets but distributed in limited quantity. A brand sustaining tactic North Face should have employed.
