Oakley Frogskins The Most Exclusive Pair

BLENDS and Oakley are extremely excited to present to you the opening reception for ‘Retrospectacle,’ which will be taking place on July 10th from 7 to 10pm at BLENDS in Downtown Los Angeles. ‘Retrospectacle’ is a historic walk through Oakley’s rich catalog of iconic sunglasses that are still sought after and marveled at to this very day. The show, conceived by Oakley and BLENDS, will demonstrate how Oakley grew exponentially over the years by setting and raising the bar for how eyewear should function and look. Oakley humbly began in 1975 with founder, Jim Jannard, selling grips for bicycles out of the trunk of his car, to transitioning into eyewear production, to today where they are the standard for eyewear quality.

‘Retrospectacle’ will bring before you the whole lineup of seldom seen Oakley classics from their private museum located at their headquarters as well as pieces from their newly developed limited Artist Series program. Oakley’s Razorblades, Eyeshades, Frogskins, Mars, and many more will be shown all in their original packaging as well as prints of the original advertisements featuring the aforementioned products. Also on display, will be today’s retro versions of the Frogskins--which utilize the exact same mold and technology as the 80’s versions—as they will be placed side-by-side with the originals to reflect Oakley’s vision of staying true to what made them what they are today.

The crown jewel of the evening will be an exclusive Frogskin color available only at this night’s event. The color, which was designed by the team at BLENDS San Diego, was inspired by the original gradient coloring found on the Oakley Iridium lens. Only 20 pairs of these instant classics will be made by hand at Oakley’s headquarters and they will be sold only at BLENDS Los Angeles on the evening of July 10th. A limited tee shirt supplied by Oakley will also be available that evening to commemorate this unique event.
