Once a brand reaches a certain level of notoriety generally the original owner makes moves and creates another brand. This may be for reasons ranging from disagreements with corporate, or perhaps just a change in inspiration. When you mention streetwear, you can barely utter the word without mentioning Shawn Stussy, the mastermind behind the Stussy brand. What originated as chill beach/surf wear soon became a respected lifestyle brand.
