The anticipated Nas album “untitled” a.k.a his Nigger album dropped today and after all the hype it was worth the wait. Nasir starts the album by lyrically murdering a classical piano beat on the track “Queens Get the Money”. “Untitled” has production from well known producers like Polow da Don, Stargate and a few not so well known producers like Jay Electronica (produced Queens get the money). Nas knew which sound he wanted for this album because none of the production is over the top, and the beats aren’t drowning out his lyrics. Nas wanted everyone to hear his rendition of the black man in America and he’s definitely successful. He could have easily used all the media attention as a publicity stunt and maybe had 1 or 2 “Nigger” inspired songs and disappoint a lot of people, but every song is telling a story either about the past, current or future life events.Nas has a few features on the album from The Game, Busta Rhymes, and The Last Poets. The track “Breathe” is a personal favorite on the album, with bars like “I'm fresh out of city housing, Ain't have too many options, Pennies on a pension or penitentiary-bound, Plenty Henny in me, Envy was simple they trend see, My enemy was every hater that was bigger than me.” Every legend/Veteran in the game should drop a theme based album because it puts them on another level and plus you need something new to talk about. Nas attempted this with “Hip Hop is Dead” but it wasn’t as accepted as this album will be. Perfect timing Nas we needed an album like this especially sense this economy is spiraling downwards and we living in the beginning of another recession. Even if you not a Nas fan, I guarantee that this album will have you thinking, so therefore cop it.
