Nike is currently holding an “Innovation Summit” out in Portland where Bejing Olympic technology is being unveiled to international media. Among a slew of new awesomeness slated to debut during the August games, comes the BMX Dunk, a makeup put together so United States, Chinese and Japanese athletes can rep the swoosh during the newest Olympic event. To make the iconic shoe BMX-friendly, Nike incorporated a stiffer sole as well as clip technology for more efficient pedalingAs it stands, the Dunks are for Olympic athletes exclusively, but when asked about the future release possibilities, John Martin, the Creative Director for Nike Action Sports, said, “There’s never been something this steezy in a clip shoe, so you never know who is going to appropriate something like this…who knows where it’s going to go?” Translation: look for the newest track bike accessory to hit Spring 2009.
