Tech Tuesday: Happy Bday Bonidacci

Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson on Sunday announced a new premium handset aimed at capturing the Web convergence market, blending multimedia with mobile Web communication in its first product using Microsoft Corp.'s operating system.

The Xperia X1 will launch in the second half of 2008 and will be sold worldwide, including in the United States.

The handset features an arc sliding mechanism with a 3-inch-wide DVD-quality video display, a full keyboard alongside a touchscreen, and optical device for navigation. This phone is predicted to be the i-phone killer

Nab Vista SP1

Don't want to wait until March for Windows Vista SP1, but not feeling the whole torrent thing? Microsoft has posted a disc image to its OEM partner site with a full copy of SP1 on it, and the download is free -- if a bit slow at the moment, thanks to all y'all grabbing a copy. The 1.2GB disc image requires you run it as a clean installation, so you've gotta ask yourself it's just worth waiting a few more weeks for an easy peasy update courtesy of Windows Update. Decisions, decisions.

Samsung's MBP-100 mini projector goes mobile in March

Samsung returns to the mobile market with the hottest accessory. The MBP-100 mini projector casts a 20-inch display from cellphones or presumably appropriately jacked portable media players of all kinds. No details at the moment but it's expected to hit S.Korea in March and hopefully go global soon thereafter. So imagine you're on a date, movie is sold out, but luckily you brought your ipod with you. Select a video you have from storage, plug in the projector, and you're goodmoney!
