While many skeptics brush off the effects of global warming and climate change, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has assembled a group to determine the vulnerability of his city in the face of potential catastrophes. The Climate Change Adaption Task Force convened for the first time today to perform research and make determinations about the susceptibility of NYC to disaster.

Rising sea levels or a massive storm surge could have a tragic impact on the Big Apple and many scientists and experts have concluded that large-scale flooding would inundate huge areas of Staten Island, Queens, and Brooklyn; while Lower Manhattan, the world's financial capital, would be completely submerged.
