Feast Review 7: Tito's Tacos

So upon our arrival to LA our cousins told us that Titos Tacos is a must for Feast Review. So after a few burger reviews we decided to take a break and hit up some tacos. Honestly had no idea what to expect...I've never ordered tacos in a restaurant(always order fajitas) so my knowledge of delicious tacos extended as far as home cooked and Taco Bell. Sad but true, so when I heard there was an authentic Taco Stand and it was a LA must see, we were off! Teleport for the feast review:

Lil cuz Lexi was in charge of this feast review, so I threw here a wad of cash and said order what you think will be delicious. Broham and I went and found some nice outdoor seating and waited for her to come back with the food. When we saw her walking with two box packages we didn't know what to think, until we opened them...
Now this is what I call a feast! 15 tacos, 5 per person contest...fixings, and a chicken enchilada under all those tortilla chips! We split the tacos, and started applying the fixings.
So at first we only say the salsa and guacamole, I wondered where the sour cream was but Lexi let us know they don't provide that condiment...disappointment.
Feast bite, and devoured that damn taco.
Once we ate a handful of tortillas we realized there were beans, rice, and spicy picante sauce underneath...nice surprise to make up for the lack of sour cream.I don't know how the bloodclot he did it, but broham punished 5 tacos straight up!
Finishing the 4th was a little tough, but delicious.
On to the 5th...nope sry charlz gotta know your feast limit. I stopped at 4, so did Lexi, broham you win this one. Titos tacos was an interesting experience...when you bite into the taco there is no rush of flavor or anything. It's just average I'd say. The meat was poorly seasoned, there weren't any tomatoes or sour cream, and the guacamole was entirely too runny. I prefer the hand made guacamole to the blended kind. Honestly the only reason I continued eating these tacos was because we were in competition, don't get me wrong they were average/good just not overwhelmingly delicious, as I expect all feast review food to be. Each taco became soupy because the meat was so greasy, and not one taco kept form. Titos didn't even have chicken burritos or anything, I thought that was odd, but I'm sure they pass it as "authentic". I even felt a bit sick after the 4 tacos, sitting there blown, thinking to myself, "what have I done". I rate Titos Tacos 4/5 on the feast meter but 2.9/5 on the delicious meter. Go here if you're smacked or just passing by.

check their website...sooo annoying Titos Tacos

Feast Review 6: Burger Wars LA: Fatburger

Burger wars continue here in LA, and the competition is fierce. Today challenger was non other than Fatburger. Conveniently located directly across from Astro Burger. Fatburger had their game face on as Rosa helped me decide which burger to order. I ended up getting the turkey burger with chili and the works, iced tea, chili cheese fries, and a choc. shake...the feast begins. Teleport for full review:

This is a normal meal at Fatburger. The fries were too thin and tasteless, the chili tasted like it was fresh out the can. At least the photos make the food look good.
hhmmm...burger. Each burger is nothing but a mere challenge, a challenge to see how quickly you can devour a feast. The wheat bun was a nice touch, but far too much relish and mustard. It made the burger sloppy and watery.
Like a vampire, the first bite is always the best..wait no that's creepy. The is the "feast" bite, and for Fatburger the first bite was average.
30 seconds later and we have recyclables...finished pretty quick with no breaks, the burger was too small. To be honest the fries tasted like shredded cheese and canned chilli on top of cardboard strips.
This burger joint was kind of grimey, the tables and outdoor areas looked like jail furniture, but that's just me. I rate this place a solid 2.8/5 for delicious burgers. Only go here if you are short on luck, it's like an upscale burger king, with bad fries. If you are in Cali and want to check for yourself, be my guest...but remember, I told ya so.

Feast Review 5: Burger Wars LA : Astro Burger

Cali is known for having great burger spots, and nothing tops a delicious burger(except dimesherbsbread), its only right I do a LA burger tour. Today we stopped in West Hollywood for lunch at this burger spot on Melrose. It was a classically styled burger joint with stool seats facing Melrose so you could see the action.

Teleport to catch the full review.

There was also a nice outdoor eating area with a chill breeze, of course we had to sit here.

hhmmm...cheeseburgers: I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with the works, broham got a double bacon cheeseburger with the works and my lil cuz Lexi got a pastrami burger.
The first bite of a burger is essential to determining its delicious factor. To initiate this you must take a feast sized bite of the burger. Act like a lion feasting into a freshly killed wilderbeast...you get the picture

The service was fairly quick, but the burgers took a little while to be prepared. Everyone seemed to enjoy their burgers, we literally devoured them. This is the way burgers should be, medium sized burgers are the most filling because then you eat more fries. Astro burger is a hit with me, I give it 3.9/5.

Feast Review 4: Rock Creek Parkway Deli

After a night of partying a group of us woke up for breakfast...and realized it was 2:00pm. So we decided to grab lunch instead. The spot we chose is pretty much located on the Maryland/DC line, but MD got this one officially and the address is noted as Silver Spring. Anyway...we hadn't been here since high school so peep the feast review.
I love a good burger, and Parkway Deli did not disappoint. I ordered the Rio Grande burger...which was seriously delicious. I crushed this joint, and the chipotle mayo was the perfect touch.
The Artist Kentaro formerly known as Kentaro Ikegami.Kentaro ordered a chicken pesto panini sandwich with Eggplant fries. They may look a little weird but I definitely ate half of those joints. They were delicious, never knew Eggplant was goodmoney.
Hung over are we broham?Lil bro got this Pesto grilled chicken panini style sandwich and fries which he devoured.
The human vacuum, my boy Madison ordered a French Dip sandwich and Latkes. The sandwich was gone in a matter of minutes so that's why it's missing in this picture. I never knew potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce we're an edible combination but once again Madison devoured these too. This is a great place to come after a night of partying and drinking. The service was fantastic and we got our food pretty quickly. That counts a lot when you're smacked or hung over. The ambiance inside the Deli is real chill, we were probably the loudest ones in there. Quite a few old people, so if you want something low-key, check it out. I strongly recommend the Rio Grande burger and fries, that meal created quite the Itis...

Feast Review 3: Napolean Bistro/Lounge

For this Feast Review I asked my girl Annie to lunch. She suggested this restaurant she'd been wanting to try in Adams Morgan called Napolean. Don't let a first glance at the menu fool you like it did me. I was under the presumption that this was a French restaurant...no no they have a few items on their menu that can be considered French cuisine...but that's it. The ambiance here was very chill. We sat outside, and although we were seated close to a main street it was relatively quiet. We weren't all that hungry so we made it a light meal.I got the Ceasar Salad with marinated chicken. I didn't know it was standard to just throw someone an entire stalk of ice-berg lettuce and call it a salad? I can't even front though, besides the unusual presentation the salad was delicious. I don't even eat salads like that, but this was prepared well. The chicken was seasoned well with the right amount of lemon and garlic to compliment their signature Ceasar dressing. Lucky for me they didn't douse the whole plate with dressing or I would have been tight. The serving size was perfect for a quick lunch, and surprisingly this salad was filling.Annie ordered the house salad with a side of salmon. Her salmon looked delicious and she devoured it instantly! The salmon was well done, nice and light but filling enough for lunch. There is something about eating outside that chics just dig, so Napolean got a few cool points from Annie on the secluded outdoor atmosphere. This restaurant is good-money for a lunch date, or business lunch meeting. You'll be surprised how quiet and comfortable the outdoors is relative to its close proximity to a major street. Although we only got salads, a few people around us got sandwiches that looked pretty appetizing. Our server Jean Luc was a chill guy, hooked up the iced green tea and kept it flowing. We got our food pretty fast too. Be sure to check this place out, we strongly recommend it as your next first/second date/business lunch spot. Great place for a stimulating conversation. The next visit here will be for brunch or dinner.

Feast Review 2: Churreria Madrid

Bare with me on this review, I left my camera at the crib so all I had was Crackberry cam. The pics still came out pretty decent I'd say. Anyway, Pops put me on to a spot he used to take shorties back in his early DC days. It's called Churreria Madrid, a great look for a first date, lunch with shorty or even dinner with wifey

If you're going with a significant other make sure you arrive about an hour before sun set. This will give you time to order your aperitivos, meal, and first pitcher of Sangria. I strongly recommend the window seat 2nd floor near the front of the restaurant. You get a nice view of Adams Morgan, and you're positioned well to receive the sunset.
Full pitchers of Sangria for $10.00, can't argue with that! Sangria is the drink of the summer, it's what I order at every restaurant in my search for the perfect recipe. Churreria's sangria was pretty good, a bit sweet a soda-like but good non-the less.
I ordered the Huevos Con Chorizo, Patatas Fritas y Piemientos Fritos. Seriously was a delicious meal of food. Oh yea that's two eggs, Spanish sausage, French fries, and fried green peppers for you non bi-lingual folk. The eggs peppers and sausage were all seasoned exceptionally well, especially since I'm not too big on green peppers. The meal reminded me of Brazilian style cuisine, simple ingredients but overwhelming flavor.
Yea, it's a wrap for that ballin, delicious meals of food are meant to be devoured.
I was surprised and excited to notice that Churreria has the best item on their dessert menu: CHURROS...yea this is gonna be the summer churro spot. Who doesn't love churros?

Churreria Madrid is a good look, I highly recommend checking this spot out and rate them 4 stars. Their happy hour runs 5-7pm and would be a great after work spot to grab a brew. The restaurant has an old school ambiance which is enhanced by soft Spanish music. The waiters are real chill too. They definitely hooked the extra Sangria up when they realized I was writing a review...If you want a delicious meal of food...hit up Churreria Madrid:

Feast Review 1: MDawg Haute Dogs

So Jones and I were in Adams Morgan the other day shopping for venues for the EF summer banger. It's always a new experience in Adams Morgan during the day, you see shops you wouldn't necessarily see on a bar night. There was this spot I never been to before called Mdawg...since we recently started the new "Feast Review" segment of the blog I thought I might as well... So check out our first review, Mdawg, a hot dog spot in Adams Morgan:

So immediately upon entering this joint I tried to bang out. I've always believed that if you walk into a spot to feast, and nothing smells delicious then it's a wrap, they have nothing to offer me. So I went against my better judgement and checked out the menu. We had been making the environment green all day, so my conversation with the woman at the register got us nowhere. Maybe I was speaking a different language, but for some odd reason she couldn't tell me which meal on the menu was the most delicious...soo i just said gimmie the regular with chilli and cheese. You can't go wrong with a chilli cheese dog!WRONG. I've learned you CAN go wrong with a chillie cheese dog...it turns out that these hot dogs taste alarmingly similar to ANY hot dog you'd get from a cart downtown. As noted by the facial expression, I avoided immediate regurgitation. Sike nah that joint was just standard, extremely standard...$6-8 bucks for edible garbage, sorry Charlz never eating here again. I shoulda known something was up when dude had to siphon the cheese out of the machine for a few minutes before he could use it. Son of A.Mdawg does have some healthy foods as well but I'm not so sure I'll be trying those menu items. Remember don't trust what you can't prove with your own research, so feel free to check Mdawg out, but you could just save money and get a "dirty-hands" dog from a cart downtown.
