My little sis Des goes to Carnegie Mellon. Little did I know she was studying fresh kicks! Pittsburgh Pensylvania's Carnegie Mellon University has legitimized sneaker culture with its official sneaker based class, Sneakerology 101. Hard to believe but this is a university level course dealing with sneaker culture and just that. The course ranges from its roots in the 1970s to its shaping by hip-hop, the internet and basketball among other factors. This class even delves into the global sneaker phenomenon. You all have heard of Bobbito Garcia's Where'd You Get Those? , this course uses this piece for reference as well as various sneaker-based websites. Kids are graded on a mid-term project pertaining to the design of a sneaker. Interested parties can sign up for the class' next session set for Spring of 2009. D, you better sign up for this class!
