Fashion Sense: Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony: The Nineties Are Back!

How awkwardly did you dress in the early 90s? If you’re anything like me, light jeans, giant flannel shirts, and jellies or Doc Martens (depending on the weather, naturally) were staples in your closet too.

Chloe Sevigny, actress-designer-and-all-around-indie-starlet has designed a line for Opening Ceremony NYC that is absolutely reminiscent of what I would have loved to wear in the 90s. News broke that she was collaborating with O.C. months ago, but as of recent her collection is available. With the lookbook available as a .pdf download on Opening Ceremony’s website, I have fallen in love again.

Modeling the entire line herself, Miss Sevigny has created a fashion-forward retro trip shot in primary colors and overexposures. (Translation: it’s weird. And sometimes ugly. But the beauty that comes from the unusual is often best.)

**Note: the wedge booties she is wearing are her favorites!

This exploration and interpretation of early 90s styles creates a collection of minidresses and pinafores complemented by thigh high stockings and high-waisted everything (cigarette pants, skirts, shorts) paired with a bustier top (à la Dolce and Gabana), vest, cropped blazer or mock turtleneck- to name a few.

Pictures speak so much louder than words, enjoy and become inspired by her courage to create something so exceptionally different. The following are my favorites from the lookbook.

**Note: I would wear this dress in a second!

**Note: her headwear? Amazing.
