ARTIST OF THE MONTH: JAE PE$O

It's been a while since our last artist of the month. The reason being, we like to comb through music and find the best of the best. We've found someone...his name is JAE PE$O and he hails from the Bronx, NY. Someone needs to get dude a bottle of NyQuil because the brotha is ILL! We caught up with PE$0 for an interview, check it out.

Expressive Frontier: So how long you been rapping?

JAE PE$O: “I first started exploring with rap 10th grade in High school. I was on an internet site, making beats, and spittin just for fun. We were kids you feel me, playing around, nothing serious. I was prally 14 or 15, just spittin with my manz and them.

Expressive Frontier: Coming from the BX, what artist influenced your style?

JAE PE$O: “The first artist I ever listened to or actually paid attention to was Jay-z. The first song I rocked to was Jay-z, the joint with Amil and Beanie Sigel, you feel me? I was mad young, so Ja Rule, LL Cool-J, and Jay Z were the first cd's I ever owned. Presents from my pops, so he put me on. You feel me, when niggaz still rocked to CD's...seems like ages ago!

Expressive Frontier: So how would you describe your style?

JAE PE$O: My style is smooth, laid back, even though you can feel the emotion, I'm not extra with it. I try to write thought provoking lyrics, you know. Listen to my words, my metaphors, I put my heart in each verse, you feel me? Honestly, I think the best word to describe my style is diverse, listen for yourself, you tell me!

Expressive Frontier: Who’s killin it in the game right now?

Jae PE$O: That Fab mix-tape was killer, shout out to Major Music for that joint. Fab the hottest one out currently, and Joe Buddens ain't far behind.
Expressive Frontier: Where do you think the rap game has gone, and what’s next for the music industry?

JAE PE$O: I think Hip Hop is going back to it's essence. It's going back to the live shows, and performing on corners. You know, the live mediums of rap. Hip Hop used to be all about the live performance, not all this ring tone rapper sh*t. I'm not hating, I just wish people knew what Hip Hop is really about, and how things used to be.

Vote For PE$O, and check out our Artist of The Month music section to listen.
