Little Dragon, Big Roar: Major Music Review

First and foremost...big ups to the homie Modi over at DCtoBC for cisin EF with this Little Dragon treasure. The name may throw you off a bit, but sh*t who doesn't like dragons? Besides knights in shining armor, and Tokyo city civilians of course. Anyway we present you with some chill new music from these guys...and gal shown above. Have a listen:

Little Dragon - After The Rain


As you can clearly hear...the music is made to chill to and probably sounds even better live. Kind of even has that Erykah Badu vibe, but check this, the lead vocalist...with that soulful voice you just heard is a stunning Swedish-Japanese hybrid...just look up. Her name is Yukimi Nagano, her band consist of her close high-school friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass), and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards). The electronic music they create is creating quite the buzz among the chill elite. Check out more of their music here, as we are sure to be chillin to these tunes for a bit.

Commonwealth DC hosted the Clipse Mixtape listening party in Washington DC and Expressive Frontier was there to get the exclusive coverage. São Paulo, Brazil Pixação Documentary

São Paulo, Brazil is known as one of the roughest hoods in the world, so of course out of this environment must emerge some dope artist. Think I'm amping it? Take a look at this insane video of local Brazilian graf kids covering massive buildings in pixação, a type of graffiti lettering native to São Paulo. Scaling ledges stories above city streets as onlookers stare with looks of amazement... I fux with these dudes, they go hard. I was in Rio...the feds down there don't play...at all. Like I saw someone get murked for trying to rob a tourist...so for these guys to risk it all for the art they love...thats passion right there!

Shout out to my shorty Maila from MAZE in São Paulo, who is clearly my #1 takedownable in Brazil...peep the shirt though...Brazilian babes who love fresh kicks...can it get any better?... we need fi link up shorty. São Paulo Streets special coming soon too!

New London Art Studios, Old Retired Subway Cars

Young London artists looking for cheap studio space in an expensive city are turning their eyes toward subway cars. Not some weird stow away set-up, more like railway lounges in the sky. That's because these retired subway cars are actually on top of a warehouse-turned-art-gallery in Shoreditch, London, where they offer a multi-purpose space for artists who pay an recession proof $30 a month. Auro Foxcroft, the mind behind Village Underground, even got a sweet deal on the cars: £800 for four of them.

What a dope idea...I hope my boy Kentaro get's in on these underground villages asap! Foxcroft plans to expand his Village Underground to other cities, including Berlin, Lisbon and Toronto. It would be OD to see something like this in DC.

Pharrell Williams x Atelier WM Candles: Live Long and Prosper

On a recent trip to Paris Skateboard P made a stop at Atelier WM. To make a wax mold of his hand for a candle. Limited to 200 pieces worldwide, the Live Long and Prosper candle will only be sold at Collette and BBC/Ice Cream stores and will go on sale December 8th. There's no word on the price yet but its a collectors item, so expect a ridiculously high price.

Wolverine: Gambit Revealed!

Here's another Movie Monday exclusive for you humans out there...Straight from the Marvel volt we got a shot of Gambit from the upcoming Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman. The movie will be completely about Wolverine and how he came to be the admantium clawed animal we all know and love. In the picture after the teleport you see actor Taylor Kitsch playing card throwing gambit...this movie is gonna be OD. Hoped they would have opted for an R rating so we can really see Wolverine go berserker barrage on someone. teleport for the Gambit exclusive!
